An Afternoon at the Park

Our friends the Parkers came over today and we took all of the kids to the playground to burn off some of their energy. And to enjoy the great out-of-doors, I'm sure, but primarily to wear down the kids.
As expected, the children had lots of fun. Avery also met a future girlfriend while climbing on the rocks He seems to have a taste for older women... :-)

Enrolling in Preschool

Yesterday I signed the boys up for preschool at the Golden Pond school. The boys were very excited when they looked in at one of the classrooms full of kids playing and learning.

Avery asked me if he could stay and then Zach piped up to say he wanted to stay as well. I told them they had to wait until the pool was opened and closed. That may sound odd, but currently we explain the passage of time to the boys in terms of various milestones (Example: the weekend is two bedtimes away). When we left, Avery asked if we could go to the pool; given that it was March and 52 degrees outside the whole "pool thing" was perhaps not the best choice of metaphors.

[Update]

Avery and Zachary got accepted to our local Preschool today. We are looking at 3 days for Avery and 2 days for Zachary starting in September. I'm very excited.

Boys in Mom's Shoes

I was looking through old videos and thought this was cute and funny. It was taken May 2006. Enjoy.

Dinner with the Velottas

It has been a couple of weeks since I last posted. We've been quite busy and Avery has been off his sleep schedule for a couple of weeks. I'll be back logging soon though. Lots to talk about.

We had Mike, Ieva, and baby on the way come over for dinner last night. It's always entertaining to see them. Never a dull moment. So, I have a story.

We were all sitting at the dinner table, including the boys, and Avery said to Ieva "Your hair is pretty."

Ieva said "Thank you."

Mike questioned "Are you hitting on my wife?"

If we hadn't all burst into laughter, I'm sure Avery would have said "I'm not hitting your wife." or "What does 'mywife' mean?"

Anyway, we enjoyed their company and we're very excited about the new Velotta coming in June. Congratulations to them both!

Lisa's Birthday Party

We celebrated Lisa's birthday a week late because Gigi was sick the week before. It was a small party, but we got to see Grandee and all of the Schobel grand kids.

This photo is great of Eli with the girls. You can tell he wants to have a girl.

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa

We visited Grandma and Grandpa at their place today. Grandma and I went spring shopping and the men and boys went out to explore the woods around the house.

Grandma greeting the boys as we arrive.

Avery discovers fungus on a tree branch.

Kaylee's 1st Birthday

We went to Kaylee's first birthday party today. The kids had a blast, of course. Avery and Zachary love Logan, Kaylee's older brother. He is right in between them (by age), so he is the perfect friend.

Our friend Heidi makes wonderful cakes. They taste great and are always a showpiece.

Here is Ashley sharing a seat with Avery. She is just a few days younger than Logan, so our kids love her as well.

The birthday girl in a pretty dress. I think she is wondering if she is allowed to eat all the cake in front of her. She got the biggest piece! Lucky girl :)

Playing with Stuffed Animals

Every day we have play time upstairs so I can do some laundry. The kids are normally well behaved and play in their room or the nursery.

Today as I was doing laundry, I started hearing a dull thumping sound. I thought to myself "maybe they are just hitting the wall; I'll get them in a moment."

A moment passed and I saw Zach walk by with some stuffed animals. Then I saw Avery come up the back stairs and look down at the landing. As it turned out, Avery and Zach had decided it would be fun to throw all their stuffed animals from their toy chest down the back stairs. This was great fun until Mommy spoiled the fun by telling them to pick them all back up again.
